When you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your Life.
Something like that.
I fell in love with quilling in 1973 when I embellished my friend's wedding invitation with quilling, and framed it for her wedding gift. She loved the keepsake and I loved making it.
A little story about my grand daughter here, who is now ten. We were working together at the kitchen table back about a month ago. She was working on some cards with paper punches (she is going to be in the Next Generation tent next year at the Craftsmans Fair) and playing around with quilling. I was making flowers for a wedding invitation.
She said "Gramma, how long did it take you to learn to quill that good?" I said "About 40 years." She just looked at me. I asked her "how long did it take you to learn to do a cartwheel?" as she is in gymnastics. She said "I was perfect the second time!" I just smiled...to be young and so confident.
Quilled Daisy Wedding Invitation Keepsake.
This wedding keepsake is a wonderful gift and they are always unique, because every invitation is different. The invitations have changed over the years and are becoming more colorful, with pictures and flowers and lots of embellishment on their own. And lots of enclosure cards.
Mine, back in 1973, was the 'engraved' invitation with the reception information printed on the bottom left and the rsvp information on the bottom right, no enclosure cards.
And there was one that was printed in gold, for the Bride to keep for herself.
This is my keepsake.
The original invitation is placed on a mat, triple matted, and framed under glass in whatever size frame is needed to appropriately fit the invitation. A satin gold frame is included but you may upgrade to a black wood, satin silver frame or light oak frame if you wish. I can also get a different frame, if you want something fancier, but I like to keep the frame simple to show off the invitation.
You can pick out your own color scheme, including the flowers, mats and background colors. I also ask whether you want daisies like on this invitation or round daisies instead. All your choice. If your want to check out all my wedding invitation galleries, I have over five hundred samples on my website, all different.....lots to look at. Pick out a couple, tell me what you like about the invitation, colors or design, and it will give me a direction in which to go. Or tell me to do it my way!
I have created over 3,000 of these keepsakes since 1973!
I will mock up the invitation with its flowers, mats and frame and send you a photo by email for you to approve or make any changes you want before I glue it all together. I can even send you a photo in different frames if you want to compare. And don't worry about wanting different color flowers than I made, I have a box that has all my extra flowers. They will perfect for another invitation some where down the line.
The Quilled Wedding Invitation Keepsake is usually back in the mail within two weeks after I receive it. Since I am waiting for you to approve the design or make changes, the sooner I hear from you, the sooner I finish it up and mail it out. If you think you are too late to make the wedding, call me and ask, you never know...and oftentimes the Bride and Groom are going on their honeymoon anyways. And if you give it to them after the wedding, they will remember it, and it won't be something in the pile of gifts. I have also had people request it for a shower gift, and then the Bride places it on the guest table at the wedding.
You can also do the same thing with a birth announcement.
I ask that you be sure to send the invitation in a stiff photo mailer so it doesn't get wrinkled in the mail, or folded to fit in the mailbox. I have received a few in bubble mailers that don't have a very good trip. And please include payment with the invitation.
I will also gift wrap the quilled keepsake and mail it to the Bride and Groom and include a quilled card with your sentiment. Or include your own gift card when you send the invitation to me.
So if you need a wedding gift, anniversary gift, 50th anniversary keepsake, or even a birth announcement keepsake, please check out my galleries. I look forward to working with you on that perfect wedding gift. Quilling my way, done your way.
Remember that the first anniversary is Paper, not diamonds. So I am in luck if you need a first anniversary gift!
