Today's little story focuses on my Mom.
One of my earliest designs is my Hummingbird.
My Mom, who is watching me from above, and smiling, always had a hummingbird feeder outside her window. She religiously cleaned it and changed the water when it go low. And sometimes that was later than sooner, but the hummingbirds did seem to come anyways.
She spent many a day out swatting the ants from the feeder and even tried greasing the pole so the ants couldn't climb to the feeder.
She loved her Hummingbirds.
Mom always had to have a hanging fuchsia plant because the Hummingbirds loved them. And she had False Solomon's Seal planted in the garden which they love as well. Mom also had a few Foxglove, which started as a few and spread everywhere. There are still some in the garden to this day. Although I am not very good at taking care of the garden like she did...heck I don't do anything but watch the flowers grow...I do enjoy seeing the milkweed (which I am sure she would have pulled right out) because they attract a few monarch butterflies. Last year we even had a bunch of caterpillars, but they disappeared.
We still watch for the Hummingbirds. I think she sends them to us to remind us of Her.
My Quilled Hummingbird, as well as many other Quilled Bird Designs, are on my website. Check them out. Most are in stock, but I can make up one special for you in about two weeks. Contact me for more information.
